Chapters 10 & 11 -- Proverbs!

We're catching up today -- Congratulations to Mollie and Chris!  A wedding kept me busy on July 10!

Proverbs Chapter 10 has some "mouth" verses.

"Wise people store up knowledge, but the mouth of the foolish is near destruction." -- Proverbs 10: 14

There are eight references to the mouth in this Proverb.  The Bible is full of mouth references .  Perhaps we should guard our words !  Proverbs 10:18 refers to avoiding gossip and slander -- an important message.

Proverbs 10:12 is a perfect verse to memorize:

"Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all sins."

This is a great verse to talk to the children about.  God wants us to love one another as He has loved us.  With the children, you can talk about what to do to show you love someone.

Proverbs 11 continues to tell us to guard our mouths!  Watch out what you say.

You can demonstrate this with a tube of toothpaste.  Have your child squeeze a tube of toothpaste onto a paper plate.

Tell him the toothpaste is like our mean words.

Now, tell your child to put the toothpaste back in the tube.  He can't do it!

We can't take our words back once we have said them.  We should be careful what we say!
